If so, you are one of the many people who suffer from sensitive skin. These six sensitive skin dos and dont's will help keep your skin smooth and clear.
DO: Test products on a small patch of skin before applying all over your face or body. Apply a small amount of the product on your arm and leave it there for a 24-hour period to determine if it has an adverse effect.
DON’T: Assume that a product labeled “natural” or “hypoallergenic” means that it won’t cause irritation. You might be surprised at the products that may or may not work with your skin type.
DO: Talk to your dermatologist about your skin sensitivity issues. The redness, itchiness or dryness you are experiencing may be due to skin conditions such as rosacea or exczema. Your dermatologist will help identify and treat any serious skin issues you may not have been aware of.
DON’T: Try to diagnose your own skin problems. You may think you’re treating a problem with a product that’s actually causing the sensitivity. Always consult with your dermatologist when starting a new skincare regime.
DO: Use products that contain no added fragrances or perfumes. These irritants can exacerbate skin sensitivity. Be sure to check the ingredients. Surprisingly, products listed as “unscented” can still contain fragrances.

DO: Use natural and unscented laundry detergent.
DON’T: Forget that chemicals on your clothing can be just as irritating to sensitive skin as products applied directly on your body.
DO: Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen formulated for sensitive skin.
DON’T: Expose unprotected skin to excess sunlight. This can trigger skin sensitivity, especially for those who suffer from rosacea.
