Three rockets from the Syrian side of the border with Lebanon fell on the outskirts of the northeast Hermel village of Al-Qasr Saturday leaving no casualties, security sources told The Daily Star.

One of the rockets that hit the region of Sahlat al-Maa did not explode, the sources said.

The attack came hours after residents of Al-Qasr said they received warnings via text messages from Syria that the Free Syrian Army would bombard the village and the town Hermel.

Schools closed in Al-Qasr shortly after.

Two people were killed last week in Al-Qasr and the village of Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali, also in Hermel, in rockets fired by Syrian rebels who claimed they targeted Hezbollah sites.

The Syrian opposition accuses Hezbollah of fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar Assad, who is grappling with a relentless uprising since March 2011.

But the Lebanese party maintains it is only helping Lebanese residents of Syrian border villages defend themselves against attacks it says the Syrian rebels are staging.

Separately, four wounded Syrians in critical condition were transported from the Bekaa Valley town of Arsal to Jub Jennin.

The National News Agency said the Lebanese Red Cross transported the four from Arsal to Farhat Hospital in Jub Jennin.

Also Saturday, President Michel Sleiman discussed with Army Commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi the security situation in the country and security measures in the north, particularly on the border with Syria.
